Sinus Toothache

I have a bad sinus toothache..I have been on levaquin and Rhinocort for 12
days with another 8 days to go. I have pain in my cheek with redness and
maxillay tooth pain.When can I expect to get some relief. Am I expecting too
much for the problem to be gone? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks rich

Have you been checked for dental abcess as well as sinus infection?
Have you tried alternating moist heat and ice to the painful area?

If the Levaquin were going to work, you should be feeling better by now.
Call your doctor.

I agree with Susan. Probably a dental abcess. Have you had a CT scan of the
area? AW

Someone here posted a tooth xray that showed that the dentist improperly
did a root canal or filling that resulted in filling material going into
the sinus cavity just above the gums (upper teeth). You could try
searching this newsgroup to find the X ray I am talking about. The person
then was having sinus problems. Just something to check out what this
person's experiences were. I can't remember all the details.

Just for the record, that molar that was giving me all the pain with the
sinus problems, was eventually replaced by an implant (actually 2 of
them). ...I tell you...It's bad enough to have the Dentist drill your
teeth, but for the implant they drill into the Jaw bone. ...Arrrgh!!--
Horrible feeling. ...Suffice it to say, the Dentist took numerous
X-rays to ensure he wasn't near the sinus cavity during the procedure.
...And the bottom line: I haven't had any problems since.

I thought I'd mention this, as usually the worst case scenarios seem to
get the most attention on these groups. I wanted to point out that just
because one may have serious tooth pain, and it's determined to be sinus
related, it doesn't necessarily mean that an abscess has broken into the
sinuses, or the Dentist has screwed up with his root canal. ...Jon

Yes a lot of what gets posted is extreme you are right things may not be
due to a doctor error in most cases. Some people like myself still read
and post to this newsgroup because we are interested in new developments
in sinus research. We may not have severe problems now but just want to
keep up on things as having had the problems in the past there is a chance
for future problems (hopefully not though!). In the case of this tooth xray
I saw posted I thought it was pretty bizarre (and unusual) when I saw it
and thought the poster may benefit from it (not knowing his particular
circumstances). But you are right that most probably his are due to
residual tooth pain.
